Arne Jacobsen designed the Munkegaard fixture specifically for the Munkegaard school constructed in northern Copenhagen in 1951-58.
The school ceilings could accommodate a 100mm deep hole, but the fixture height could not be under 130mm. Arne Jacobsen solved the problem of the protruding edge by designing the transition from ceiling to fixture edge as an illuminated slit, thus effacing the daylight shadows and the contrast between the fixture’s own light and shadow.

Concept Munkegaard appears as a glass disc hovering just below the ceiling, an image mainly created by the illuminated slit. The quality of the layered glass ensures an evenly lit surface, providing spaces with soft and diffused lighting.

Mounting The luminaire is equipped with a terminal block. The luminaire is fixed to the ceiling from below with 2/3 clips or mounted on ceiling/wall with 2 screws.
