Concept The Diana lamp is a combination of functional and compositional sobriety. A central metallic foot of variable diameter supports a wide circular shade of white linen. It has become well-known for its location in a prominent place: the office of the former Mayor of Barcelona, Maragall.
From a circular base the Diana lamp soars upward in a slender metal shaft topped with a large circular shade. Its simple balance makes it a handsome addition to any decor. The lamp’s only straight vertical line is the metal shaft. Otherwise it is dominated by circular shapes: its large shade, the metal base and the different diameter sections of the shaft.
The Diana was created for the office of the then Mayor of Barcelona Pasqual Maragall who presided over the Olympic Games. He is internationally known for his support for architecture and design. Frederico Correa and Alfonso Mil were responsible for the renovation of the Mayor’s office along with Miguel Mila with whom they had worked in the past. In the words of its creators, the Diana lamp seeks to be as timeless as possible.
A brilliant exercise in traditional design, an updated version and a well thought out classic concept. While providing a particular effective form of lighting, it also gives the office a sense of comfort, creating a feeling that one is not actually working.
The Diana family: this floor lamp, a table lamp and a low table, combines a classic air with the latest technology- a classic concept with a modern treatment and finish.
