Allegro is a lamp shaped from intermingling lacquered aluminium rods, creating a light, incorporeal structure. Based on Foscarini’s original voluminous Allegro design, Allegretto’s dimensions have been reduced by reinterpreting the form (without losing its original refinement) and, importantly, retaining the special essence of the lamp that emits a gentle chiming sound when lightly touched.

Arne Jacobsen designed the Munkegaard fixture specifically for the Munkegaard school constructed in northern Copenhagen in 1951-58.

The school ceilings could accommodate a 100mm deep hole, but the fixture height could not be under 130mm. Arne Jacobsen solved the problem of the protruding edge by designing the transition from ceiling to fixture edge as an illuminated slit, thus effacing the daylight shadows and the contrast between the fixture’s own light and shadow.
